Southampton Police Reports for the Week of July 24

FLANDERS — Omar Brown, 44, of Riverhead was arrested shortly before 7 a.m. on July 16 and charged with driving while impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, after a Southampton Town Police officer pulled him over for a traffic violation and determined that he had been smoking marijuana. A Suffolk County deputy sheriff responded to the scene and conducted a drug recognition evaluation and determined that his impairment was such that he was unable to safely drive a vehicle.

SAG HARBOR — An Oak Drive resident reported that someone had contacted her husband via text claiming to be an Apple Support agent and tricked him into giving them login information for a bank account, then transferred $3,872 out of the account to another account.

HAMPTON BAYS — Georgina Fiordalisi, 68, of Hampton Bays was arrested at about 11:30 on July 18 and charged with DWI after she was pulled over by a Southampton Town Police officer for a traffic violation and the officer determined that she was intoxicated.

SHINNECOCK HILLS — Juan Delarosamares, 45, of Riverhead was arrested by Southampton Town Police shortly after 8 p.m. on July 19 and charged with misdemeanor DWI after he was involved in a motor vehicle accident and a breath alcohol test reveled he’d been drinking more than the legal limit.

NORTH SEA — An employee working at a corporate sponsorship tent at a polo match reported to Town Police on July 20 that while working during the event he had taken off his Rolex watch and set it on a table. A short time later, he noticed it was gone and nobody else at the venue at the time said they had taken it. The watch was valued at more than $9,000.

FLANDERS — Elsie Rivera, 61, of Bohemia was arrested by Southampton Town Police at about 4:20 p.m. on July 15 and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, after police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Flanders Road and determined that Rivera was impaired by a controlled substance, a small quantity of which was recovered from her vehicle. She was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor.

HAMPTON BAYS — Bryan Mora, 33, of Hampton Bays was arrested by Southampton Town Police at about 9:20 p.m. on July 20 and charged with misdemeanor DWI after police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident. When officers arrived, one of the vehicles fled the scene and accelerated to a high rate of speed, ignoring officers’ lights and sirens and swerving in and out of traffic. Along with DWI, he was also charged with unlawful fleeing an officer and reckless driving, both misdemeanors.

FLANDERS — Victor Olmedo-Tepoz 33, of Hampton Bays was arrested by Southampton Town Police at about 11:15 p.m. on July 20 and charged with DWI after he was pulled over for driving erratically and was determined to be intoxicated.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH — On July 20, at 12:48 p.m., Kurus Parangi, 59, of Paramus, New Jersey, was arrested by Westhampton Beach Village Police and charged with DWI. Police pulled Parangi over on Potunk Lane near Main Street after observing him driving erratically in a car that had significant damage to the front end. He was held overnight for morning arraignment and then released.
